Isaiah 53:2 He grew up in his presence like a young tree, like a root out of dry ground. He had no form or majesty that would make us look at him.
If Jesus sat at your table for dinner do you think you would recognize him?
The MLB All-Star Game was last week; it brought back some great memories for me, I remember the All-Star game coming to Toronto in ’91, and loved watching Joe Carter play in it. knew everything there was about Joe Carter, I loved studying the back of his baseball cards learning as much as I could about him and then a few years later I got the opportunity to meet him, which was an incredible experience! Have you ever meet anyone who spent a lot of time learning about?
Simon the Pharisee who spent his life studying the scriptures, reading the back of Jesus baseball card if you will; learning everything he could about him finally got his chance to meet Jesus and he didn’t realize it was him.
Jesus describes the Pharisees this way “these people honour me with their lips but their hearts are far from me” you should read the story it’s found in Luke 7:36-50 but I have to wonder if we would recognize Jesus ourselves today, have we created a God that we could market so he would be more attractive for people to follow?
Would we serve the Jesus described in Isaiah 53:2?
