Well I’ve declared my theme for 2018, in case you missed it, it’s (drum roll please) “JUST DO IT!” I’m in this season of my life where I don’t want to be talking about doing big things and all it becomes chitty chitty chat chat. I just want to do something, I don’t want have to pray to ask God if he wants me to help someone in need, he’s already told us what he wants us to do.
I want something more for 2018. I’ve been feeling a sense of urgceny that I can’t explain. I don’t want to waste my time dealing with beef (I know, I know it’s a part of life). I want people to come to love God because of what they see in his people, what they see in me.
I’m coming to understand that unlocking the big stuff means applying the little stuff to my everyday situations. For example, I have a friend who’s going through a tough time right now and if I was going to apply my theme to his situation I would use the verse from Isaiah 43:18 – 19
“Remember not the former things,
nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.
God gives us a promise that he’s going to do something new, something
fresh, a promise to lead us out of that place that lacks hope and has no sense of direction. He tells us he will do what seems impossible for us by providing water in dry places, a place of refreshing!
but
the application for our lives is that we forget the things that have happened before, don’t let them sit in your mind playing back on repreat over and over again.
You have to let go so the new can happen!
PS as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus this week, Jesus is that new thing!
